The Detroit out-of-home market
Detroit ranked #17 among U.S. markets for out-of-home advertising spend in 2025, at about $78 million according to MediaRadar data published by the OAAA. (That figure covers all out-of-home formats, not just mobile billboards.)
Where trucks typically run
Common targets in Detroit include Downtown and the riverfront near Huntington Place, the District Detroit around Ford Field, Comerica Park and Little Caesars Arena, Midtown and Woodward Avenue, Corktown, and suburban business corridors across Metro Detroit. The best route depends on your audience, schedule and what local rules allow.
Detroit's auto industry, pro sports and downtown events make it a strong mobile billboard market, and searches for mobile billboards across Michigan show steady demand. Ford Field, Comerica Park and Little Caesars Arena sit close together downtown, so one truck can cover several game-day crowds.

Local rules to know
LED trucks: check before you book. The City of Detroit sign code (Sec. 4-4-7) lists any dynamic sign located on or attached to a currently registered motor vehicle as a prohibited sign citywide, unless a waiver is granted under Sec. 4-4-22. A dynamic sign is any sign that can change its copy automatically, such as an LED screen. That rule is the City of Detroit's own. Suburbs in the metro area have their own codes. Ask operators how their LED trucks comply inside city limits, or consider a static truck for downtown routes, and check local ordinances for each city on your route.
This is general information, not legal advice. Rules change, so confirm current requirements with your operator and the local authority before you book.
Typical costs
Typical day rates reported by industry pricing guides are roughly $500–$2,400 for static trucks and $800–$5,000+ for LED trucks, for a standard 8-hour day. Large, high-demand markets often fall toward the upper end, especially on major event dates. These are general ranges, not quotes. See mobile billboard cost for what affects price.
